We had the pleasure to interview Yoga Junkies member Melanie Bamert. She’s a 22-year-old Psychology student from Switzerland who’s addicted to travel and makes our hearts skip a beat every time she posts a picture of her cute little doggies, Myla and Lori.
If she’s not travelling or walking out in nature with her pups, then you’ll usually find her creating art and posting it to her Instagram @illustrationsbymelanie.
Mel has been a huge supporter of us ever since she joined Yoga Junkies and has recently become part of our online writing team. Be sure to keep an eye out for more of her amazing art and research-backed articles on yogajunkies.com!
Why did you begin practicing yoga?
I’m very passionate about lots of things which also means it can be a challenge for me to slow down at times. For that reason, I have started to practice yoga but then (of course) I found so much more than just the relaxation I was initially looking for!
What does your routine look like?
At the moment I go to yoga studios once or twice a week and on the other days I practice at home. I love to do energizing flows in the morning and yin yoga at night.
How has yoga changed you?
Yoga has helped me to be more in tune with my intuition and through that I’m able to live much more in the moment. Also, the more I practice yoga the more connected I feel to my body and the people around me!
Tell us about a project you have coming up in the next year.
I want to learn more about holistic health and well-being which is also what I want to focus on most in my psychology studies. Further I really want to do my yoga teacher training and am currently looking at what resonates most with me in this regard!
Where can people find you?
You can find me and my lovely dog, Myla, at @mylaandsunflowers on Instagram. Love, Mel
