How did your Journey begin with yoga?
My first experience with yoga was a Hatha Yoga course at a fitness center in 2007. After some excursions into other yoga styles, I found my way to Hot Yoga in 2008. In 2011, I completed a Hot Vinyasa Flow training in the United States. The versatile, dynamic style immediately inspired me, and I have not let go since. In August 2012, I turned my passion into a profession and opened the first Hot Yoga Vienna Studio in Vienna’s 6th district. In 2017, I opened a second studio in the 1st district.
What differs hot yoga from standard classes?
Hot Yoga is the ideal holistic training for a healthy body. The perfect blend of an effective workout and a cleansing detox. With a pleasant 30 °C to 37 °C room temperature, 90 % humidity, and a lively sound, this yoga style really makes your body sweat. Your body is strengthened and stretched for 60 minutes as it experiences an all-around detox session.
Plus, you burn up to 450 calories per hour.
What are the benefits of hot yoga?
Hot yoga is therapeutic yoga, medicine, and body detox. The heat allows more intense stretching, improves your flexibility and reduces the risk of injury. Furthermore, conscious breathing, strengthening of willpower, endurance, and better concentration are encouraged. The detoxification process is stimulated and the immune, cardiovascular, and hormone systems are strengthened. Hot Yoga helps with chronic headaches and migraines, arthritis, joint, neck and back pain, disc problems, weight reduction, and digestive problems.
If someone is new to yoga, can they still join a hot yoga class?
For yoga, you don’t have to be extremely agile or have a special body stature. All classes are easily accessible and suitable for beginners as well as advanced students. They differ only in the degree of heat. There are comfortably warm classes (Flow, Relax, Hot Sculpt) and hot classes (Hot Flow, Hot Yoga), which detox is the focus. To help your body slowly get used to the heat, lie down in the room for a few minutes before the start of each session.
What is the best advice on your yoga journey that you’ve ever received?
Do what you love – love what you do! My philosophy of life and yoga: To do as much as possible of what I enjoy and feel good about doing it. If I stick to this philosophy, the challenges of everyday life, are much easier for me. In our stressful lives, it’s important to consciously take time for yourself on a regular basis. This is the only way to create self-satisfaction, growth, and creativity. Yoga is life changing. When I think about where I was before yoga and where I am today…. It’s completely different, and I would never want to be without yoga again. Yoga has changed my life for the better in so many areas, without question. It just happens. My vision is to convince people of the well-being that Hot Yoga provides for you.
